Many Lives, MANY Stages

I'm fortunate to have had several career reinventions, so my experience is vast.

My first was acting. I played the role of Sad Girl in a film about girlhood inside LA gang life. Mi Vida Loca premiered at Cannes, made its way across the globe, and became a cult classic. Thirty years later, it's still used as a teaching tool in, women, Chicano, and film studies at universities across the U.S. It's screened at festivals including a recently sold out event at the academy museum. In 2023 it was nominated for preservation in the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress.

What Mi Vida Loca taught me in 30 years is that some stories seem to belong to one era or group, but good story belongs to the people who hear it.

Confidence, belonging, burnout, storytelling, career change, and the human skills that matter more as technology changes how people work. I also speak on women in film, gang violence, acting, wellness, and culture.

Most recently, I gave a sold out keynote at Lean In Latinas' Take Charge conference, hosted on LinkedIn's campus, and spoke at Cairo Dreamin' in Egypt on the importance of building community in the workforce.
