The Courage to Be Confident: Embracing the Dynamic Duo
Hello angels! Today, let’s dive into the fabulous world of courage and confidence and how these two superpowers join forces to elevate our lives both at work and beyond.
Courage and Confidence: A Powerful Pair (Like Sad Girl and Mousie!)
Courage and confidence may live in the same neighborhood, but they definitely have their unique vibes. Courage is that inner chingona (badass) who pushes us to take that leap of faith, face our fears, and step out of our comfort zones. It’s like that feeling you got right before rocking those hoops to work, despite the comments you knew you’d get about your “exotic look” – you did it anyway! On the other hand, Confidence is that unshakable belief in ourselves and our abilities. It’s the knowing smile when we present ideas, the assured tone when we speak our truth. Confidence says, “I got this!” even when others doubt us.
I love it when Courage and Confidence become besties. I get to try new things, like living in a whole other country, and feel good about it (have you seen my travel videos?).
The Importance of Confidence in the Workplace and Life
As a life and career confidence coach, I’m always looking for articles that highlight the importance of confidence for women in all aspects of life. One video by Brooke Castillo, How To Be Confident, made some excellent points.
Brooke emphasizes that confidence doesn’t come from external accomplishments. I agree! She also states that being courageous is more important than feeling confident when it comes to helping people. While I agree with many of her insights, I’m going to have to pass on this one. When establishing ourselves in a new role, courage may be queen but, confidence needs to kick in. I believe courage and confidence are a dynamic duo. Being courageous and feeling confident have played essential roles in my successful journey.
Embracing the Power of Confidence
To me, courage is my suit of armor, but confidence is like my favorite pair of “go-to” sweats – comfortable and empowering. Both have their place, but living in confidence just feels better.
Barbara Markway, Ph.D., highlights the rewards of self-confidence in a Psychology Today post:
- Reduced Fear and Anxiety: More confidence helps calm the inner voice of self-doubt, reducing anxiety and overthinking.
- Increased Motivation: Building confidence through achievements boosts motivation and perseverance to tackle challenges and pursue goals.
- Enhanced Resilience: Self-confidence equips you with coping skills to handle setbacks and failures, promoting growth and learning from mistakes.
- Improved Relationships: With higher self-confidence, you become less self-conscious, leading to deeper connections and empathy towards others.
- Stronger Sense of Authentic Self: Confidence allows you to accept weaknesses while celebrating strengths, leading to a greater sense of purpose and alignment with your principles.
Self-confidence is essential for a happy and fulfilling life!
Embrace Your Worth
If you’re like me, you’ve spent most of your life feeling like you didn’t fit in. You’ve been the first in your family, of your friends, or in your neighborhood to do many things. You’ve definitely beat odds. And even if you haven’t fully recognized it, you’ve blazed paths.
You’re not new to living courageously. But are you confident?
I hope so, because you’re worth it!
